World Bank delegate visits Solve Agri Pak

The delegate discussed overall situation of livestock & dairy development in Punjab and various initiatives that Solve Agri Pak is involved in.

Lahore (Nov 08, 2016): World bank delegate Mr. Adriaan Vernooij visited Solve Agri Pak head office and called on General Manager Dr. Waseem Shaukat to discuss the livestock & dairy development in Punjab. Present at the occasion were also Solve Agri Pak's Commercial Manager Mr. Asif Ashfaq and Community Development & Capacity Building Manager Dr. Muhammad Rasheed. Mr. Adriaan, Dairy consultant from Wageningen University Netherlands, is part of the World Bank team that is currently visiting Punjab for identifying policy areas for reforms and initiating preparations & institutional arrangements of the proposed Strengthening Markets for Agriculture Rural Transformation (SMART) project in Punjab.

Solve Agri Pak team briefed him that Solve Agri Pak is one-stop solution provider for dairy, livestock & related agriculture sectors in Pakistan. Various initiatives were discussed which Solve Agri Pak is involved in, including trainings & capacity building, project management, rural development, value-chain strengthening, turn-key project management etc. in livestock, dairy & related agriculture sectors. Solve Agri Pak's team also highlighted the impact of various livestock & dairy development initiatives taken in Punjab during last ten years. Moreover, current gaps in the livestock value-chain particularly those pertaining to policy reforms and institutional supports were also discussed. The delegate was informed that price capping of livestock products was one of the major bottlenecks in sustainable growth of livestock sector. It was emphasized that necessary policy decision must be taken to ensure sustainable and long term growth of this sector having substantial influence over rural economy.
